CBD 101

Hemp = CBD?

The Hemp plant has been used to change lives for centuries, even right here in the USA. Many historians believe that Betsy Ross sewed the first flag out of hemp fibers. Thomas Jefferson and George Washington both grew hemp on their farms to produce rope and cloth. Henry Ford used hemp to make an agricultural based plastic that he wanted to use on Model T’s. During World War II, hemp was used to make soldiers uniforms and the US government promoted the growing of hemp to farmers. Hemp is part of the Cannabis Sativa family and is a cousin to Marijuana. The main difference between the two is the amount of THC. Hemp plants are naturally low in THC and high in the other cannabinoids, including CBD

What is CBD?

Cannabidiol or CBD is the main cannabinoid extracted from the hemp plant and recognized for its benefits on human health. Even the US government recognized this and holds a patent – # 6,630,507 – on CBD to “protect and insulate the brain from degeneration and damage“.

Why CBD?

CBD works on the Endocannabinoid System (ECS) that is found in all humans. The ECS is made of cannabinoid receptors throughout the body: the brain, the organs, the connective tissue, glands, and immune cells. In each, the ECS performs different tasks but the goal is the same – to maintain a stable balance and promote well being. Hemp derived, full spectrum CBD oil  provides an entourage effect that includes over 500 distinct compounds including: Phytocannabinoids, Fatty Acids, Terpenes, Plant Sterols, and Vitamin E that help the ECS do its job.

Will CBD Products Make Me High?

This is the biggest question about CBD and the answer is a definite NO, CBD will not make a person feel “high”. THC is the compound that makes people have that euphoric feeling and CBD oil made from hemp is low in THC. To be considered hemp based CBD, the oil can have no more than 0.3% of THC. Canna-Matrix takes this one step further and has the THC removed, therefore it is non-psychotoxic (it does not result in feelings of euphoria).

For those who want a safe, sustainable and non psychotoxic way to get CBD, our hemp derived CBD products provide the best options available.
